In late 2021, TĀKOUT proudly introduced a one-of-a-kind custom skate deck by Bronx-born documentarian Edwin Ortiz, titled “What She Lacks In Age, She Makes Up For In Madness” - affectionately known as “Karen”.

Born and raised in the Bronx, Edwin’s known for capturing the city exactly how it is - loud, layered, and unapologetically real. Karen was no different. Rough around the edges and full of personality, the deck told a story without saying a word - chaos, character, and truth, all rolled into one.

Unveiled at the TĀKOUT flagship in Fordham, Bronx, the release spoke to our mission to uplift homegrown talent and celebrate the art that reflects the soul of the Bronx.

Through Edwin’s vision, we honored not just a product, but a perspective - one born of local legacy, lived experience, and the madness that makes it unforgettable.
